The son of Cuban immigrant parents, Alain has always admired what his parents did for him and just like his parents, he has always dreamt of chasing the American dream. After a 14 year run in the non-profit management sector, Alain took some time off to focus on himself and wonder what his next move would be. After much soul searching, he decided to follow his passion of smoking BBQ for a living. After a meeting with his now business partner, Gerardo, BarBQban was born. BarBQban is the vision of Alain whereby a first-generation Cuban American is looking to provide authentic BBQ to the South Florida area. While there are a few BBQestablishments in South Florida, he felt that his product can stand out amongst the competition.

Alain enjoys cooking, listening to all types of music, watching movies, but most importantly, spending time with his cat Kiddie.

Gerardo took the scenic route to America. It was the winter of '88 when his mother wrapped him like a burrito and made the long voyage from Nicaragua. With the grace of GOD, they made it to America and joined the rest of their family, who had already made their home in Allapattah, FL. It was in this small neighborhood in the heart of Miami, that Gerardo and Alain met at Comstock Elementary.

Growing up, Alain enjoyed grilling in his backyard and Gerardo always ate like he was going back to a third world country. You haven't seen a duo this dynamic since Ren & Stimpy. One Thanksgiving, Gerardo asked Alain to show him how to smoke a brisket. They did not know then that would be the first of many cooks. Gerardo came along as the official "Food Taste Tester" and continues working here to this day just for employee discount. 

Gerardo is also a practicing Certified Wellness Coach and recommends you only eat one slice of the HONEY BUTTER CORNBREAD. All Jokes aside, when Gerardo isn't behind the grill or taking customer's orders, you can find him out by the pool with his wife Sandy, kids ‘Lay and Zay’ and Belgian Malinois ‘Riley’.
